What is the World Bank The World Bank was established in 1944 as the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development. In June 1944, delegates from forty-four countries gathered in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, USA to determine the organizational structure of the postwar international economy and to lay the foundations for the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. The delegates of the Bretton Woods Conference sought to create in the future a global organization, the purpose of which is to assist in the recovery and development of the member countries of the organization, to stimulate the development of productive forces and resources in less developed countries and thereby contribute to higher productivity, living standards and welfare in these countries ... The World Bank Group is a collection of multilateral development organizations owned and accountable to the governments of the organization's member countries. The Bank Group has a non-political direction. The statutes of its organizations prohibit taking political considerations into account or interfering in the political affairs of the member countries of the organizations when making decisions. It was always interesting to see this building from the inside!
